<div data-wrapper="true" style="font-size: 12px; font-family: "Segoe UI", "Helvetica Neue", sans-serif">
If your application for asylum support has been successful, you, as the main applicant,will be given an Aspen payment card.

You will most likely receive the card at a face to face briefing prior to being moved into dispersal accommodation. If you have not stayed in initial accommodation, the card will be sent to you by post to your dispersal or verified private address.

If you are staying in a self-catered initial accommodation, the Aspen card will be given to you at the beginning of your stay. An allowance of £35 per person will be uploaded onto the card every week so you can buy food and essential items.

Asylum support will be uploaded onto the card on a weekly basis.

Our advisers will help you activate the card and obtain a secure PIN, which ensures no one else can use the card without your permission. Alternatively, they can give you instructions on how to do this yourself. Make sure you keep your PIN safe and do not disclose it to anyone.

You may use the card at most retail outlets where Visa cards are accepted. You may also withdraw any available funds from a cash machine, if the terms and conditions of your asylum support permit access to cash. You can also check your balance at any time at a cash machine. Make sure that you are using a free to use cash machine.

Watch a video about how to use a cash machine on Migrant Help’s YouTube channel.

The Aspen card allows money in the account to be carried over if not needed in one week.

The Aspen card scheme is managed by the Home Office. Details of the terms and conditions which apply to card usage are issued with the card. The Home Office may suspend or discontinue the payment of support when you cease to be eligible, or should it appear that you have not complied with the terms and conditions.

Your Aspen card does not provide a credit facility and it can’t be used for internet and telephone-based transactions.

If you have difficulties using your Aspen card, you can contact Migrant Help on 0808 8010 503.It is important to keep your Aspen card safe. If your card is lost, damaged or stolen, please contact Migrant Help on 0808 8010 503.

Attached below are images which show what the Aspen Card looks like.
