<p>Once you receive a positive decision on your asylum claim, and the 28-day grace period is over, you are able to work in the UK - in any profession and at any skill level. If you’re not ready or able to look for work and have very little or no income, you are entitled to apply for welfare benefits instead.</p>

<p>Our Positive Move On advisers will refer or signpost you to relevant agencies and organisations that will be able to help you with this, as well as with looking for work.here.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/contact-jobcentre-plus" target="_blank">The Department of Work and Pensions (Jobcentre Plus)</a> can help you with looking for work and you can also apply for Jobseeker’s Allowance while you seek employment.</p>

<p>Please note that if you are applying for welfare benefits at a Jobcentre Plus, you should be able to access the vulnerable persons’ service which aims to provide additional support to individuals with complex needs to help them claim benefits.</p>
